Data sources and takedown requests
Where our figures come from, how we use them, and how a council, school or other rights holder can ask us to remove or correct anything.
Where our figures come from
- Admissions figures: the Reception allocation reports councils publish each year: applications, places, the last admission criterion reached and the last distance offered.
- Admission rules: the admission arrangements councils and schools publish. We summarise them in our own words and link to the official version, which always takes priority.
- Ofsted inspections: Ofsted’s published management information, under the Open Government Licence v3.0.
- School details: Get Information About Schools (Department for Education), under the Open Government Licence v3.0.
- Address points: Ordnance Survey open data, under the Open Government Licence v3.0.
How we use them
- We take individual figures only. We don’t copy or host councils’ or schools’ documents, and we don’t reproduce their layout or wording.
- We present the figures in our own tables and charts. Every figure names its source and links to the original document.
- We publish a council’s admissions figures only where its documents are available under the Open Government Licence, or where the council has given us permission. We keep a record of each council’s terms and of every request we make.
Ask us to remove something
If you publish information we use, and you’d like us to stop using it, email help@offerodds.co.uk with the subject “Takedown request”. Please tell us:
- who you are, and the organisation you act for;
- which information or pages you mean (a link is ideal);
- what you’d like us to do: remove it, correct it, or credit it differently.
What happens next:
- We reply within two working days.
- While we look into it, we hide the information you’ve named. We don’t wait for the discussion to finish first.
- We tell you what we’ve done. If you’d be willing to let us re-use the information under the Open Government Licence, or on other terms, we’d welcome that conversation.
Report a mistake
If a figure looks wrong, email help@offerodds.co.uk. We check it against the source and correct it.
